You are invited to participate in a research study entitled: “The Cocooning Vaccination Strategy: Knowledge Attitude and Practices of Physicians and Families in Lebanon”

• The aim of this study is to assess the knowledge, attitude and practice of families and doctors regarding vaccination of pregnant mothers and their household members, and to explore the reasons for such practice.

• If you agree, you will be asked to complete this survey that has questions about what you know and your opinion of the subject matter in addition to few questions on your background such as age and occupation.

• We are targeting Lebanese parents who are either expecting or have a newborn baby at home, in addition to their close family members.

• It is estimated that the survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete.

• Your participation is this study is voluntary

You are invited to participate in a research study entitled “The Cocooning Vaccination Strategy: Knowledge Attitude and Practices of Physicians and Families in Lebanon” conducted by Dr. Lama Charafeddine, Faculty of Med-icine , Department of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at the American University of Beirut. The conduct of this study will adhere to the IRB ap-proved protocol. 

 

The IRB approved method for approaching subjects is an online facebook survey. 

If you already filled this survey before, please discard this survey. 

The purpose of the study is to investigate the practice antenatal vaccination and family vaccination across Lebanon and to assess the knowledge and attitude of ex-pectant mothers and their families regarding this practice. 

This questionnaire was developed by our research team and piloted on 10 mothers before using it. 

 

PROCEDURES 

This message invites you to: 

1. Read the consent document and consider whether you want to be involved in the study. 

And to note: 

· Participation is completely voluntary. 

· Completing the questionnaire will take around 10 minutes. 

· Only the data you provide in the questionnaire will be collected and analyzed. The research team will not have access to your name or contact details. 

· The results of the survey will be published in a peer reviewed journal as a re-search article and an abstract will be presented at the annual AUB FRRP Re-search meeting.

The inclusion and exclusion criteria: This survey is aimed at expectant moth-ers and close family members who will be involved in direct care of the baby in the post natal period. 

· The targeted sample size: 1500 

 

POTENTIAL BENEFITS TO SUBJECTS AND/OR TO SOCIETY 

You will not receive payment for participation in this study. 

The study will help raise awareness and improve the knowledge of families and expectant mothers regarding importance of vaccination. 

 

POTENTIAL RISKS TO SUBJECTS AND/OR SOCIETY 

The risks of the study are minimal / You may experience discomfort or em-barrassment when answering some of the questions. 

CONFIDENTIALITY 

The collected data will remain confidential and anonymous. 

Records will be monitored and may be audited by the IRB while assuring con-fidentiality. 

PARTICIPATION AND WITHDRAWAL 

If you voluntarily consent to take part in this study, you can change your mind and withdraw at any time without consequences of any kind. 

Refusal to participate or withdrawal from the study will involve no penalty or loss of benefits to which the subject is otherwise entitled, and neither will it affect their relationship with their organization and AUB/AUBMC.

This survey is anonymous.

The record of your survey responses does not contain any identifying information about you, unless a specific survey question explicitly asked for it.

If you used an identifying token to access this survey, please rest assured that this token will not be stored together with your responses. It is managed in a separate database and will only be updated to indicate whether you did (or did not) complete this survey. There is no way of matching identification tokens with survey responses.
